On its 280th anniversary Chelyabinsk unveils a large architectural tender. It is designated to reconsider urban and social and cultural enivironment, to find architectural solutions being able to change the urban environment and become landmarks of the capital of the South Ural. Chelyabinsk is actively developing, mastering new areas of economy and business, seeking comfort and work-life balance for its citizens. In this relation we would like this new tender to become a starting point for successful interaction between the region and its partners in the spheres of architecture, culture and urban science.

The Open architectural tender involving international participants is held for developing sketch design of the key city objects.

The oppotunity for SCO summit being conducted in Chelyabinsk in 2020 is approved by the federal government and the city will be adapted to the international requirements of this event.

One of the tender objects under design is a group of buildings of the Congress Hall. Nowadays the city does not possess such a forum site but it is a key object. For a few days this place of business meetings will become a centre of the international politics and draw the global attention. Of course, we want the Congress Hall to become a landmark of the city, remarkable, convenient, multifunctional building.

The airport being reconstructed is another important aspect of preparation for meeting international delegations. The airport is the face of the city, it must become another architectural landmark. The goal of the architect is to create a memorable image and solve important functional tasks and we believe that the tender will result in a variety of conceptions and options and both city and region will be proud of the airport.

I reckon that sketch designs of the embankment of the Miass will be under strict scrutiny of the citizens. It is located in the heart of Chelyabinsk, on the place of its foundation and people worry about this area being neglected. Search for new ideas will help our favourite place to return its past expressiveness and originality.
